Your privacy matters to your neighborhood
Nabo is a neighborhood sharing app. We collect only what we need to connect you with neighbors and keep the app working well. We do not sell your data — ever.
Information we collect
- Your name and email address (used to create your account)
- Your approximate location or neighborhood name (so we can show you nearby listings)
- Profile information you choose to share, such as a bio or avatar color
- Listings, photos, and messages you create within the app
- Device push notification tokens (to send you message and listing alerts)
How we use your information
- To create and manage your Nabo account
- To display your listings and profile to neighbors
- To deliver messages between users
- To show your neighborhood in the feed header
- To send push notifications for messages and nearby activity (you can turn these off in Settings)
Location data
We request access to your device location to determine your neighborhood name. Your precise GPS coordinates are not stored — only the neighborhood name derived from reverse geocoding. You can deny location access and manually enter your neighborhood in Edit Profile.
Data storage
Your data is stored securely via Supabase, hosted on AWS infrastructure in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion at any time by contacting us.
Third-party services
- Supabase — database, authentication, and storage
- Expo — push notification delivery
- Apple / Google — app distribution and in-app purchases (if applicable)
Your rights
- Access or export your personal data at any time
- Correct inaccurate information via Edit Profile
- Delete your account and all associated data by contacting support
- Opt out of push notifications in the app Settings or your device settings
- Control your location sharing at any time via iOS/Android permissions
Children's privacy
Nabo is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of Nabo after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
Rules for a good neighborhood
By using Nabo, you agree to these terms. They're designed to keep the community safe, respectful, and genuinely useful for everyone.
Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Nabo. By creating an account, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it up to date.
Acceptable use
You agree to use Nabo only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others. You must not:
- Post false, misleading, or fraudulent listings
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Share illegal, obscene, or harmful content
- Attempt to access another user's account
- Use the app to conduct commercial business or spam
- Scrape, reverse-engineer, or misuse the platform
Listings and content
You retain ownership of content you post on Nabo. By posting, you grant Nabo a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display your content within the app. You are responsible for ensuring your listings are accurate and that you have the right to share or lend the items you list.
Transactions and exchanges
Nabo facilitates connections between neighbors — we are not a party to any exchange, trade, or loan that takes place. All arrangements are solely between the users involved. Nabo is not responsible for items that are lost, damaged, or not returned. Use your judgment and good faith.
Account termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, at our sole discretion, with or without notice. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support.
Disclaimers
Nabo is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee continuous, error-free operation of the service. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the app or from exchanges facilitated through it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
Changes to terms
We may update these Terms of Use at any time. Continued use of Nabo after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
